We are doing our 1 rep max Snatch today! This is the starting point for our strength cycle over the next 8 weeks along with Back Squats on Monday.
While maxing today, here are some important things to keep in mind. First off, your form is the top priority because it is what will keep you utilizing the right muscle groups and minimizing use of improper and potentially painful muscle groups.
Additionally, this is a fairly new and/or fairly difficult lift for most of us. Because of that, we should remind ourselves that this cycle is intended to make us more comfortable and confident in this movement more than anything. The weights will come in time as our form and understanding of the lift improve.
Today, we are just setting our baseline based off of where we are in our abilities right now. Don't be hard on yourself if you're not lifting the kinds of weights you see in the Olympics. That comes from years and years of dedicated attention to a few specific lifts. We are trying to create long-term health and functionality.
