I've said this a million times, but squats are an immensely powerful and important movement that we do regularly at Hyalite CrossFit. If there is one day to avoid skipping each week, it would be squat day.
Squatting is one of the movements we do that translates to an immeasurable amount of your daily life. You utilize those muscles when you get out of bed, sit down to and stand up from the toilet, get in and out of your car, pick up your child, and the list could go on forever.
If you want to know what good form on a Front Squat looks like, Luke nailed it (in the picture above)! Here are a few of the main points on which to focus:
Set your feet approximately shoulder width apart with your toes slightly turned out.
Drive your weight backwards into your heels (avoid digging your toes into the ground).
Drive your elbows up (seeking to keep your triceps parallel to the ground).
Keep your back flat from your tailbone all the way up through your neck.
Focus your eyes on the horizon to help keep your chest high and your back flat.
Open your hands to allow the weight to rest on your shoulders and at the base of your throat.
If you have other questions about your squat form or additional reasons to squat, please ask Brittney and me.
Love you bye!
