Memorial Day "Murph" & Barbecue!
Today is Memorial Day! We will be hosting a 9 A.M. and a 4:30 P.M. class in which to complete "Murph." Join us after the 4:30 P.M. class for a Hyalite CrossFit BBQ as well!
Memorial Day is a United States holiday in which we remember and honor those who have given their lives in military service. We thank our triumphant fallen for the freedom we enjoy on a daily basis.
The CrossFit community has come to the unwritten agreement of completing the Hero WOD "Murph" every Memorial Day. It is named for Lieutenant Michael Murphy of the United States Navy SEAL's. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor and Purple Heart for his actions in the War in Afghanistan that sadly lead to his death.
Throughout his life, Lt. Murphy was known as "The Protector" because of his desire to care for those around him. He upheld his nickname with his actions through the moment of his death, which is why he was the first serviceman to be awarded the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War.
We cannot thank Lt. Murphy and all of our fallen heroes enough for their sacrifice. Instead, we remember to honor them by appreciating our freedom daily.
Love you bye!
