Why do we do Deadlifts at HCF? While they are fun to do because we are capable of moving so much weight in this movement, that is not the main reason. The main reason we use Deadlifts in our programming is to encourage and strengthen useful patterns of movement.
When you bend over to pick up something heavy, using Deadlift form will be your best choice for minimizing the risk of injury. This movement can even be useful when bending over to pick up a penny off the ground. It isn't the weight of the object that is the major issue; it is the range of the movement that really matters.
If you're picking up something light, but you twist and jerk while lifting, there is a better chance of getting injured. We Deadlift to get your body used to using this efficient lifting pattern for your everyday life.
The other main reason we do Deadlifts is because it leads to well-shaped posteriors!
