Front Squats & "Diane!"
I get asked a lot why I like pauses so much during heavy lifts like today's Front Squat. The main reason I program them in so often is because it gets rid of the dynamic bounce many people injure themselves with at the bottom of their squat. In addition, it requires a much greater focus on keeping your core engaged and active throughout the whole lift. It also helps you build raw muscular power because it is much harder to squat the weight once it has lost all momentum. Lastly, I love the mental battle involved with squatting up a brutally heavy weight that has been crushing you down into the bottom of your squat for 3 seconds. It's satisfying to show the weights who's boss!
Love you bye!
