Gymnastic skill days are a fantastic chance to work on your body awareness and coordination. Having a solid understanding of where all parts of your body are during any moment is very helpful for complex gymnastic movements along with all lifts as well.
In addition, working on gymnastic skills will help you develop rock-hard abs and monstrous shoulders like the Olympians. I'm pretty sure it happens immediately, but I could be wrong on that one.
